TravelSanta Fe is located in Northern New Mexico, an hour’s drive north of Albuquerque, the state’s largest city and major air gateway. The Albuquerque International Sunport, as the airport is officially known, is serviced by all of the major U.S. airlines. Flying into Albuquerque and renting a car is by far the most popular way of traveling around New Mexico. But not the only way. The Rail Runner provides service to the Santa Fe area as does the bus. The Santa Fe Municipal Airport is open to private aircraft and shuttle services, which are both available from the Albuquerque airport. Downtown Santa Fe and the surrounding historic districts are compact and most conveniently traveled on foot. Rental cars are available in Santa Fe. It is an hour’s drive from the Albuquerque airport to downtown Santa Fe – approximately 64 miles. The speed limit is mostly 75mph. The Shuttle will take a bit longer, and the train takes 90 minutes, not counting the bus connections at both ends.
